Beginner Solar is free to use. We keep it free by earning affiliate commissions when you buy solar components through the retailer links in our tools. This page explains exactly how that works and, just as importantly, the line we will not cross.

The short version: When our tools recommend a part and you buy it through our link, the retailer pays us a commission — at no extra cost to you. The price you pay is the same whether you use our link or not. Our recommendations are produced by the sizing engine based on your inputs, never by which product pays us more.

How we earn

In accordance with the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidance (16 CFR Part 255) on endorsements and affiliate relationships, we disclose that Beginner Solar participates in affiliate and referral programs, including:

Impact (for brands including Renogy and Eco-Worthy)
Awin (for Dakota Lithium)
GoAffPro-based programs (for Current Connected, including Victron Energy components)

When you click a component link in the Wizard or Deep Toolbox and complete a qualifying purchase, we may receive a commission from the retailer or brand. This costs you nothing extra.

How this affects our recommendations — it doesn't

The system our Wizard recommends is calculated by a fixed engine from the details you enter: your loads, location, roof, and vehicle or site. The engine selects the smallest sufficient inverter, the fewest-units battery bank, and safety-appropriate components using published manufacturer specifications. Commission rates are not an input to that engine and never have been. A product that earns us nothing can and does get recommended over one that earns us more, whenever the specs say it's the better fit.

Prices and availability

We show manufacturer list prices and link to live retailer pages. Actual prices, promotions, and stock are set by the retailers and can change at any time. Always confirm the current price and availability on the retailer's own page before buying.
